There may be some lull for a bit in the early afternoon maybe somewhere in the 5-7pm time frame....

Police say it happened around midnight Saturday when they were called to the Rapid Transitway near the corner of Pembina Highway at Chancellor Drive. Investigators say the female victim was sitting inside the bus shelter when a man approached her holding a knife. The suspect told her to strip and threatened to hurt her if she didn’t comply. Police say the victim was then physically and sexually assaulted. An arriving Transit bus interrupted the attack and the suspect fled southbound with some of the victim’s property....

In the socks example (quoted from an elevator operator at Bloomingdale’s), research by Michael Halliday showed how wealthy New Yorkers related to people from Cornwall, having heard tapes of conversations as both pronounced their Rs with these words....

Two cars were traveling at high speed when one hit a moped and several parked cars in Brixton shortly before 8pm on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police said. A man, who was in his 20s, got out of the crashed car and was chased and shot by a gunman from the second car, who then drove away. The man died at the scene in Railton Road. The rider of the moped, believed to be a Deliveroo employee, also aged in his 20s, died as a result of his injuries....

A black hole roughly 10 times more massive than our sun lurks just 1,560 light-years from Earth, a new study reports. This is about twice as close as the previous proximity champion. The newly discovered object, a stellar-mass black hole called Gaia BH1, is in a binary system whose other member is a helium-like star. This star is as far from its companion black hole as Earth is from the sun, which makes Gaia BH1 very special....

In the occupied city of Kherson, Russian troops are now largely wearing civilian clothes and living in civilian housing as they “strengthen their positions to conduct street battles,” according to the Ukrainian military and a city resident who CNN spoke to. “Amid the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers have significantly stepped up filtering measures,” the National Resistance Center, a creation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said on Monday....
